God damn it's cold...

It is colder than a topless witch convention in Germany this week. This cold front from Russia has been moving through, and it's down to -20C in the east. It's not quite that cold here; only five below or so, but damn that's cold! Public buildings all over the country are being opened up at night so that the homeless will have a place to crash, and there's serious talk about an energy shortage; Russia is going through its natural gas at an absurd rate as people max out their heaters, then turn on their gas ovens and stoves in an effort to keep out the cold (it's much colder there; we're just getting the edge of it in Germany). A few people have blown up their houses doing this; running your gas appliances all night unsupervised isn't the best way to keep your genes in the pool.

Aside from the cold, life is wonderful. The antidepressants are having an amazingly positive impact on my life; I no longer have periods of uncontrollable sadness or anger, and I don't feel out of sorts or other than myself in any way. There are side effects; the medication comes with a warning that I shouldn't drink alcohol. It doesn't mean I really can't drink; it means that I go from zero to drunk in one shot. Not that I mind.

I have to go to class in fifteen minutes. I don't want to go... I'm warm and comfy in my room and I really want to take a nap. But I spent an awful lot of time yesterday writing a paper to turn in today, so probably I should go. Peace!
